What is glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, usually caused by abnormally high intraocular pressure. It is often called the “silent thief of sight” because vision loss occurs gradually and without symptoms until significant damage has occurred.
 
Currently there is no cure for glaucoma, but treatments can effectively slow or halt its progression. The goal is to lower eye pressure to preserve the remaining optic nerve and protect your existing vision.
 
Follow-up frequency depends on your disease severity and treatment. Stable, well-controlled glaucoma may require visits every 6–12 months, while more advanced cases may need more frequent monitoring.
 
 
MIGS (Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery) refers to a group of minimally invasive procedures that reduce eye pressure with lower risk than traditional surgery. They are often performed simultaneously with cataract surgery. Candidacy depends on glaucoma severity and other factors assessed at your consultation.
